Vietnamese shoe exports to Spain rise

The Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) claims Vietnamese shoe exports to Spain continue to rise. According to the federation, Vietnamese shoes now hold a 9.6% share of the country’s total footwear imports and account for 14.6% of shoe import revenues.

In 2008, Vietnamese shoe exports to Spain rose 10.5% in volume year-on-year to 33.2 million pairs worth €271.9 million. In value terms, exports rose 23.4%.

However, FICE points out that China continues to be Spain’s largest shoe importer, accounting for 70.6% of total shoe import volume and 33% of revenues. The volume of Chinese imports fell 5.1% in 2008.

Spain imported 345 million pairs in 2008 at a value of €1.9 billion. Other important import markets for Spain include France, Italy, Portugal, Indonesia, India and Brazil.
