Obama recognises Nike executive’s unique skills
US President Barack Obama said on April 22 that he intends to nominate Nike Foundation president, Maria Eitel, to lead the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Obama believes Ms Eitel possesses a "unique blend of skills and management experiences" that will help her lead the national service programme. He believes she is "genuinely passionate" about using national and community service to bring about change and would bring "new, creative thinking to the growth and mission of the corporation”.
Ms Eitel is president of the Nike Foundation and former vice president of Nike, where she was responsible for corporate responsibility. As Nike Foundation president, she has overseen efforts to increase opportunities for the world's most disadvantaged girls, according to the White House.
