Following in Darwin’s footsteps
A specialist clinical and academic conference focusing on the latest developments in foot and footwear science and their relation to Charles Darwin’s theories will be hosted by UK-based Staffordshire University this week.
Professor Joseph Hamill from the University of Massachusetts, US, and Dr Christopher Maclean from Vancouver, Canada, will be among the invited speakers at the seventh Staffordshire Conference on Clinical Biomechanics, taking place at the University’s Stoke campus on April 17-18.
Nachi Chockalingham, Professor in Clinical Biomechanics at Staffordshire University, is coordinating the conference. He said: "The focus for this year's conference is lower limbs in extreme conditions and hence the meeting this year is titled ‘Extremus in extremis’.
"While trying to disseminate latest research in this area, we are trying to focus on new avenues for research. With our specialist area’s connection to Charles Darwin, there will be a message along this theme within the papers delivered by the speakers”.
