UK-based leather footwear producer Pavers England is to set up a manufacturing facility in India as well as expanding its retail presence in the country.
The new plant will be established in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, at a cost of €5 million. Around 80% of the shoes made in the country will be exported around the world and the remaining 20% will be sold domestically. By the end of April, the company will be sold at 60 outlets, and it hopes to increase this to 500 outlets by 2012.
The firm already has a research and development facility in Ambur near Chennai.
