Portuguese exports reach record levels

                    Portuguese footwear industry APICCAPS has issued figures that show a record level of export revenue for the country’s manufacturers from the Spanish market.
Exports to the neighbouring country were worth €116 million last year, an increase of 6.9% on the figure for 2007.
Commenting on the figures, APICCAPS said: “Exports are a priority for us, with 91% of the footwear produced in Portugal leaving the country. Within that, Spain is a top priority, with orders from there increasing by 160% over the last five years.”
In total, the Portuguese footwear industry achieved exports worth €1.34 billion in 2008, an increase of 2.15% and a third consecutive year of growth.
