Fujian footwear fails test

The authorities in Fujian province have announced the results of a recent audit of the leather footwear sector there, carried out by the province's Quality and Technology Supervision Authority.
Officials carried out tests on 20 batches of leather shoes selected from 20 shoemakers in Fujian. Sixteen samples passed the audit, but four failed, mainly because manufacturers had used poor quality leather for the uppers, or had applied adhesives.
